New camera, "Rockin' Transilvania"

Heya folks! :wave:

I finally got a new camera. :boogie:
It's not a Canon 40D like I planned, it's its elder sister, a Canon EOS 30D :iconinloveplz: and I'm totally happy with it.
I love it. :iconbigheartplz:
All I need to do now is get some money together for some nice lenses to work with. Think I'll start with the Canon 50mm f/1.8. It's cheap and good for starters, especially for portraits.
Canon-users, am I right? :D

In other news:
I was in Sibiu yesterday to see In Extremo on the first day of the "Rockin' Transilvania" open air fest and I must say I was really disappointed... :no:
Why? First of all: I had to leave my camera at home because photographing was only permitted to the press... Officially... But unofficially there were a lot people with point-and-shoot and DSLR cameras on site who had nothing to do with the press... Stupid thing is that I asked the staff if I can bring my camera and they said: "Not a press photographer? Then you're not allowed to take pictures... Sorry..." :cries: That sucked... But anyways...
Second thing that contributed to my being disappointed with the whole event was the fact that there were very few people present... I think less than 100... :( That is ridiculous for an open air fest...
Furthermore it seemed to me that the organizers were somewhat eager to get the bands to finish their performances and have them off stage so that they can leave for home... I had this feeling especially during the performance of In Extremo... It looked like they were being rushed to finish playing and get going.... They used maybe half the pyro they had at the concert last year and you could feel in the way they sounded that they were anything else but happy with the situation... No wonder... I'm sure they're not used to play in front of a handful of people, most of them being too drunk to realize what's happening in front of them on the stage... Too bad... Really... :no:
Can't say much about the other bands that played, because I'm not really a fan of them...

There was one tiny little good part about "only press photographers being allowed to shoot during the show" bla bla: I met a chick who works for some newspaper and she let me take a few shots while security wasn't looking during InEx's show (I stood in the front row of course :D), with her camera, a Canon 40D equipped with a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L lens... Some hot toy...
I gave her my email address and asked her to send me "my" photos. :D If she does, you'll find them in my gallery soon. ;)

The featured photos this time will be concert photos, of InEx especially. ;)

pai nah, miserupism romanesc...vroiau si oamenii sa doarme :rollseyes: ah well...pai da..faza cu press only nu merge...adica toata luea are aparate..am fost la festivaluri in belgia cu aparatu..ma rog, era un powershot S5IS, in primu rand, si s-a luat unu de acolo de mine, da a zis ca i'll pretend i didn't see you...deci:P..

Chiar mi-a lasat un gust amar toata chestia... Mai ales cand am vazut trupele (Korpiklaani & InEx) ca vor sa faca show, atmosfera etc shi n-au cu cine... :(
Shi faza cu press only a fost doar de chestie asha, ca erau destui cu Nikon D40 shi alte chestii asemanatoare care n-aveau nici un ecuson shi faceau poze linishtitzi... In fine...

Bafta super multa cu BACozauru'.

congrats on the new camera!!

Sad to hear about the open air sucking like that, I hate when it seems like they rush bands offstage and things...

And I so hate when you have to have a "press pass" to photograph at those things, its such a rip off... I'm going to the SummerBreeze open air in Dinkelsbuhl germany ([link]) and I'm wondering if I wanna take a chance and try to sneak my camera in or not...

SummerBreeze?!? OMG!!! Lucky you. I just looked at the lineup.... Oh dear... I'd love to see: Amon Amarth, Amorphis, Corvus Corax, Deathstars, Epica, Haggard, J.B.O. (i love those nutheads), Moonspell, Opeth (hope I'll be able to see them next month at Artmania [link]), Schandmaul and Unheilig.
About trying to sneak in your camera... I don't think that such a brilliant idea... You don't want trouble, do you? I mean you should know... Germans are Germans... When they say "no photos if you're not with the press", they really mean it. :D So my suggestion is to leave your camera at home if you can't get a press pass... ;)

Yeah I know!!! I'm so pumped for it, I keep counting down the weeks lol :headbang: I'm totally pumped for Amorphis, they are so kickass! and ahhh man lucky you, going to artmania! I wish I could get to a few more open airs, if only my parents would be cool to head off to other countries :(

heh your probably right about my camera, I suppose I'll leave my baby at home, maybe I'll see if I can get my compact. I wish I could get my hands on a press pass, I should start going about trying to get one...

ps, sorry it took me so long to reply!! I've been busy with pain in the ass school :dead:

Well, I've been to Artmania last weekend and I can tell you it rocked. :D
Opeth were brilliant, Nightwish & MDB were stunningly good too and Pain really rocked. Wasn't really impressed by Tristania, but oh well... =P
All in all it was worth the trip, time and money spent. Unfortunately no dSLR camera allowed, except for the press photographers.:roll:

So if you can't get yourself a press pass, pack a compact and go. Better than nothing. ;)

And hey, don't worry about taking too long with the response. I've been busy too... ;)
